Day 4: Happy 4th of July! plus a bonus
I came downstairs one evening last week and told Gary I was starting a blog called 365 Days of Disruption.
“I don’t like the name,” he said with a hint of a smile.
“What don’t you like about it?” I asked.
“What if it’s a leap year?” he said, grinning.
Actually, next year is a leap year - February 2024 will have 29 days.
Which seems somehow perfect. In a once-a-day-for-a-year blog about disruption, the calendar will be disrupted.
Maybe that’s a good reminder - because a year doesn’t actually have exactly 365 days in it. It’s a convention we’ve agreed upon for our mutual convenience. Conventions are only valuable until they’re not valuable, and every fourth year we get reminded of that. Maybe we should remind ourselves more often.
Like once a day.
I still decided to call this blog 365 Days of Disruption. But you’ll get one “bonus day” next year, just in the spirit of things. That’s right, if you order now, you’ll get 366 Days of Disruption for the price of 365. (Operators are, of course, standing by.)
