Day 157: Clinic Students’ Work Ensures Client Can Live Free from Torture

I’m proud to announce that Taylor Smith and Spencer Van Hoose, clinical law students in the WVU Immigration Law Clinic, prevailed on behalf of their client in the Baltimore Immigration Court today.

Taylor and Spencer obtained relief for their client under the United Nations Convention Against Torture, a type of relief granted in only around 2 percent of cases raising the claim.

Today’s result means their client can remain in the United States without the constant fear of being sent back to a situation involving extreme danger of torture and death.

Not bad for a day’s work …
